A civil funeral ceremony will usually consist of a cremation or burial of some description. The job of the celebrant is to work with you to create all aspects of the ceremony, whether this be religious, secular or something in between.
Usually, I will interview you to find out about the life of your loved one and help you pick readings, music, speakers and other elements for the day.
As a civil funeral celebrant, I will help you to make the choices that are right for you. This is a bespoke service and will be built around your wishes. At every step of the way you will be consulted and you will see a full working script before the day of the funeral.
On the day, it will be the job of the funeral director and myself to oversee and run the ceremony. We will hold the space to allow you to remember the person you loved.
Scattering Of Ashes:
A scattering of ashes ceremony is a beautiful way to say a final goodbye to a special person. This would usually take place two to three weeks after the funeral and can be wherever and whenever you choose.
I can help you build a unique ceremony and to create a cherished space for the scattering.
There is a freedom and individuality to a scattering ceremony that can be a great way to honour the memory of a loved one in a more intimate way.
Memorials:
A memorial is a special ceremony where extended family, friends, work colleagues and acquaintances can come together to share stories and remember someone.
A memorial ceremony can take place anywhere you choose. It can be in a place of particular importance or meaning to your loved one.
These ceremonies usually take place a month or so after the funeral, but the date is really up to you.
It gives you the space to create a personalised ceremony, with time for people to share memories and stories.
My role would be to help you build this ceremony, and to guide it on the day.
Video Tributes:
I offer a service where a short tribute, or eulogy, can be put to pictures of your loved one. This can be a poignant way to remember the person, or can be shared with others who could not attend the funeral.
Working with you, I can make a short memorial for you to keep safe or share however you see fit.
Other Services:
The world of funeral ceremonies is changing, with many more alternative options becoming available.
I am happy to talk about developing a bespoke ritual for you, to help you create something reflective of that special person. This could be something akin to the other services I offer, or something more alternative.
Whether it be at home, in a special or holy place, I can help you honour and cherish the memories forever.
I can also offer eulogy writing or can help you to plan your funeral in advance, if you want to ensure that your family know your wishes prior to your death.
